Is it heavy?
800 g — lighter than a full water bottle. Slip the wrist lanyard over your hand to carry it between spots, then set the kit on your lap, a flat surface, or mount it on a tripod via the ¼" thread on the base to paint.
What size paper fits inside?
Up to 32K (190 × 130 mm). The included rose-gold binder clip holds the sheet firmly against the inner easel panel, even outdoors in light wind.
Does the kit include a brush?
No — we leave brush choice to the artist. Many of our customers pair the kit with our Mairtini® 6-Piece Travel Brush Set for a complete plein-air loadout.
Does it work on a regular camera tripod?
Yes. The kit has a standard ¼"-20 thread (the same one used on every camera and phone tripod), so it works with anything from a tabletop tripod to a full hiking one. We also offer a matched ArtMate tripod as an add-on.
How do I attach my watercolor palette to a tripod?
1. Locate the mounting nut. On the bottom of your wooden watercolor palette, you’ll find a built-in 1/4" threaded metal nut.
2. Set up the tripod. Extend the legs, lock them, and place the tripod on a stable, level surface.
3. Remove the quick-release plate. Open the locking lever on the side of the tripod head, slide the plate backward, then lift it off.
4. Attach the plate to your palette. Line up the 1/4" screw with the nut on the palette and tighten the screw on the underside of the plate until the palette sits firmly and doesn’t wobble.
5. Mount the palette. With the locking lever open, set the plate back onto the head, slide it forward, and close the lever to lock it. Gently tug the palette to make sure it’s secure.
6. Adjust the angle. Turn the handle counterclockwise to loosen it and tilt the palette, then turn it clockwise to lock. To rotate it left or right, loosen the pan knob, adjust, and tighten it again.
Tip: Keep all knobs tight and don’t lean on the palette while painting.
Why does it come with a phone holder?
Because half the work of plein-air painting is seeing. The adjustable phone mount clips onto the kit so you can pull up a reference photo, a tutorial, or your own zoomed-in shot of a landscape detail — and keep both hands free for painting. Multi-axis ball joint means you angle the screen wherever the light isn't hitting it. It's the small upgrade most other watercolor boxes don't think to include.

I love this set up. It really takes the friction out of painting plein air. No lugging stuff around. All the brushes and materials fit so neatly together. It's so portable I literally clamped it to my bike handlebars so I don't even need a tripod. I've flipped it open and painted literally while I ride a bike lol.
Really high quality paints, which is surprising for an art kit. Beautiful design. Truly portable, even the brushes.
Quirks:
The white paper holder thing is finicky so I just used some little sticky circles to stick it permanently to the wooden board. Now I tape or clip my paper to that and it works well.
I do wish the brushes that came with it could be held in the brush holder.

I’m really enjoying this setup! It’s beautiful, there are lots of wells for paint and it feels very sturdy! The only problems I have are that the wells are very hard to remove to change out or clean, the water cup is WAY too small (I actually replaced it with a plastic one that is way less cute but more effective) and the white backboard inside is super fiddly, falling out and kinda hard to clip to. Still overall a really well constructed, easy to use set up and worth the buy for when you want something a little smaller!
I was delighted to receive this beautiful walnut palette/easel for Christmas and I love it. Due to inclement and very cold weather, have not yet been able to use it, but I hope to change that this afternoon.
Very well made. Hinges are perfect - just enough 'give' to open/close, but just enough resistance to hold the palette/easel open to the angle that best works for you.

I love this little Art Mate. It fits the tripod I have and have used it to create small paintings when I travel. Small squares from other paint companies can be dropped into these empty pots. The magnets keep the paints snug and there are no leaks. I highly recommend this product!
